Over 200 years and USP’s mission hasn’t changed. But how we deliver on that mission is always evolving. Our Executive Team ensures USP remains agile, that we’re always identifying and executing new strategies, opportunities, and partnerships to help build a more resilient supply of quality medicines. Scientists, public health experts, strategists, and visionaries leading USP through its third century of impact.
As USP helps build a more resilient supply of quality medicines, we must navigate the global pharmaceutical supply chain. That means understanding the needs of industry, regulators, and practitioners around the world and meeting them where they are, literally and figuratively. Regional managers lead staffs that help expand USP’s impact through standards and other solutions, targeted advocacy and capability building, and connections and collaboration.
USP’s work is critical, complex, and rapidly evolving. Our Board of Trustees, responsible for USP’s sustainability, is comprised of experienced leaders and respected experts. Together they provide guidance and oversight that help sustain and expand USP’s impact on public health.
USP standards are essential to supporting a more resilient supply of quality medicines. It’s the Council of Experts that oversees USP’s scientific and standards-setting decisions, each chairing one of USP’s Expert Committees. These leaders from around the world contribute their time, expertise, and passion to helping advance USP’s mission.

Throughout each five-year cycle, the USP Convention Membership is represented by the Council of the Convention. Like the Convention, the Council of the Convention includes members from across the healthcare ecosystem and around the world who are experienced leaders in their fields. They share their diverse perspectives, make select governance decisions, and help guide engagement of the full Convention.
At USP, we believe that excellence in science is strengthened through inclusive collaboration, equitable access to opportunities, and a commitment to integrity. Our mission to improve global health is driven by the collective expertise of our scientific and regulatory professionals worldwide. Ensuring that all qualified experts—regardless of background—have a fair opportunity to contribute enhances the quality, credibility, and global impact of our standards.
USP fosters a workplace culture rooted in fairness, professional growth, and engagement to maximize the potential of every employee and volunteer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their expertise. Our approach ensures that scientific rigor, innovation, and workforce excellence remain at the heart of everything we do.
To achieve this, USP’s Office of Organizational Culture, Equity & Inclusive Excellence works across the organization to integrate scientific integrity, workforce excellence, and regulatory innovation into global recruitment, professional development, and leadership pathways. Our global Affinity Groups further support an inclusive work culture, fostering engagement, mentorship, and career development.
USP’s approach leverages diverse perspectives to enhance regulatory science, strengthen pharmaceutical quality, and improve global health outcomes. We are proud of our work to ensure excellence, and a fair and unbiased selection process of staff, experts and volunteers based on scientific qualifications.
