Quality Institute: Excipients research

Medicines include an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) as well as excipients, or the other ingredients that help the API do its work in the body. The diversity and variability of excipients and their fragmented supply chains allow for unknown risks to quality. Additionally, there are no harmonized approaches for regulating excipients for medicines.

USP Quality Institute research will investigate how excipients impact medicine quality.
