Global Visionaries
Horatio C. Wood, M.D., LLD
- Convention President 1890–1910
- Committee of Revision Member 1910–20
Wood initiated the earliest efforts to market USP standards globally and promote public health abroad by proposing the first translation of the USP into Spanish in 1905. In addition, he argued for the inclusion of international delegates from countries recognizing the USP at the USP Convention. Due to his recommendation, representatives from Costa Rica, Cuba, and the Philippines were invited to participate in the USP Convention as delegates or speakers.
