High-Level Dialogue: Financing the Next Phase of Africa’s Health Infrastructure

Over the last several years, the African continent has made significant strides in expanding pharmaceutical manufacturing and strengthening health systems through a wide range of initiatives led by AUDA-NEPAD, the African Medicines Agency, partnerships with the private sector, like the Program on Investing and Finance for African Health (PIFAH), and others. This high-level dialogue will explore next steps in attracting financing and investment to continue strengthening health systems, including reimagining key procurement policies, redesigning insurance, and other health management strategies.

Health Roundtable: Prescribing Trade Solutions: Unlocking Health Sector Growth Under the AfCFTA

As one of four priority sectors under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), the medical sector continues to grow across the continent, with trade and investment in health emerging as a strategy to create jobs and boost economic growth. This roundtable will highlight how improving trade coordination among countries is critical to meeting AfCFTA goals, including increasing pharmaceutical manufacturing on the continent. Participants will also discuss how companies and governments can work together to address trade issues, including tariffs, to make it easier to finance new health investments and deliver better health outcomes across the continent.
