
John Lim brings a deep understanding of global regulatory challenges to his role as Medical Sciences Trustee on USP’s Board. His knowledge and expertise will help inform USP’s strategy as it works with governments, industry, and health experts worldwide to create a more resilient supply of quality medicines.
John has served as CEO of Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and as Executive Director of the Duke-NUS Centre of Regulatory Excellence (CoRE), a leading academic organization focused on building regulatory leadership capabilities and fostering policy innovation across the Asia-Pacific region.
John has been a member of the USP Council of the Convention and served as Chair of the USP Convention Regional Chapter for Asia-Pacific. As Regional Chair, he greatly expanded engagement among regulators in the region and created a robust community among the region’s Convention members.
John has served on the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Life Sciences Innovation Forum and the APEC Harmonization Center Advisory Board. His contributions to APEC have been pivotal in promoting regulatory harmonization and innovation across the region. He is a frequent speaker at both regional and global forums on building regulatory capacity, as well as on a range of topics essential to advancing the supply of quality medicines to people everywhere.

- Establishing the Duke-NUS Centre of Regulatory Excellence in 2014 as the first Asian center addressing capacity development and policy innovation needs of national health product and health systems regulators, industry regulatory professionals, and researchers.
- Leading Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority in a time of significant growth from 2006 to 2014 and significantly developing its international presence and collaborations.
- Guiding the establishment of the Consortium for Clinical Research & Innovation Singapore in 2020 as the holding company for national clinical translational research initiatives under the Health Ministry’s stewardship.
