Q. How do I resolve the error message "File Regedit.exe Was Not Found"?
A.

Copy the Regedit.exe file from the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 and paste it into C:\WINNT folder. Run "Setup" again.

Q. Why I am getting the error message "the Insight.exe File Cannot be Found" or "Cannot find publication files"?
A.

Make sure your CD is in the CD-ROM drive. The CD must be in the drive so the USP–NF software can locate the Insight.exe file and publication files.

Q. How do I resolve the error "Title Not Installed Properly"?
A.

If you are using Windows 2000, XP, ME, or NT4, you must install the product under the user profile of the person who will be using the application. If you cannot install the product at all, it may be a permission issues, meaning that you may not have permissions on the Windows PC to install applications. If that is the case, you may need to get your access level increased.

Q. Why am I receiving the error message "Can't Find CD"?
A.

If you have an older, slower CD-ROM drive, please wait 10–20 seconds after loading the CD to start the program.

Q. After installing the program (local install) in Windows 2000 Professional (or NT) workstations as administrator, why am I getting an error "Cannot find publication files"?
A.

If you have already run setup as the administrator:

  • Login as administrator and run regedit (select Start | Run and enter regedit).
  • Locate the section HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\enigma and highlight it.
  • Export that section to a file on the c: drive (or desktop or other drive) where your other NT users will be able to see it.
  • Login as the regular user.
  • Locate the exported registry file you saved and double click on it. It will update the registry for that user. The USP–NF software will now be available for that user.

Q. Why am I getting an error message "The procedure entry point__lc_collate_cp could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCRT.dll" when launching the USP program after installation?
A.

The problem is caused by a Microsoft NT and Windows 98 bug and occurs in other applications as well. The SHLWAPI.DLL file exists on the Insight run–time CD and in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. The setup process looks for the file SHLWAPI.DLL in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and compares its date with the same file on the CD. The error message occurs during this comparison.

To avoid this error message:

  1. Reboot the PC in Command Prompt mode (F8 during start–up to boot to DOS/Command Prompt).
  2. Look for the file SHLWAPI.DLL in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
  3. Check if there is enough free disk space to hold the contents of the CD.
  4. Copy the entire CD to the hard disk into a temporary directory.
  5. In the temporary directory, delete or rename the SHLWAPI.DLL.
  6. Edit the SETUP.LST file and delete all the SHLWAPI.DLL entries (usually there are two SHLWAPI.DLL entries). Make sure not to leave an empty line after you delete the entry. In the SETUP.LST it looks like the following:

  • [system dlls]
  • OLEPRO32.DLL
  • MSVCRT20.DLL
  • MSVCRT40.W95
  • ADVPACK.DLL
  • mfc42u.dll
  • mfc42.dll
  • msvcrt.dll
  • SHLWAPI.DLL <-- delete this one
  • URLMON.DLL
  • WININET.DLL

Q. How do I get USP–NF to run for all users on a multi–user workstation?
A.

You will need to uninstall the application and then re-install the application as the administrator. Follow the instructions below:

  • Logon as the Administrator
  • Insert the USP–NF CD and locate and run setup.exe.
  • Run regedit (select Start | Run and enter regedit).
  • Locate the section HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\enigma and highlight it.
  • Export that section to a file on the C:\ drive where all user profiles will be able to access the file.
  • Login as the person who will be using the product.
  • Locate the exported registry file you saved and double click on it. It will update the registry for that user. The USP–NF software will now be available for that user.

Q. I have a single–user version of USP–NF. After installing my program I get an error message: "To access control, a key is required. Change access rights", what's wrong?
A.

On the "Certificate of Authenticity" that accompanies your CD, check under the CD Key to make sure you have a Single–User License. If so, Setup.exe must be run from the root of the CD drive and not from the Network Folder.

Q. Why are some symbols appearing incorrectly in the display?
A.

This is caused by missing fonts on your PC. To correct this, place the CD in the drive and copy the MAPSYM.TTF" and "MTSORTS.TTF files to the Windows font directory. (This will either be C:\Windows\Fonts or C:\WINNT\Fonts.) After installing the new fonts, restart the application.

Q. Why am I seeing exclamation points and percent characters for the revision symbols?
A.

This is caused by a missing font on your PC. To correct this, place the CD in the drive and copy the MAPSYM.TTF file to the Windows font directory. (This will either be C:\Windows\Fonts or C:\WINNT\Fonts.) After installing the new font, restart the application.
