Monograph RedesignThe U.S. Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention is seeking comments for proposed design changes to all monographs contained in its United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary (USP-NF). On November 3, 2008, USP began posting redesigned monographs on USP.org for comment. Monographs are posted for comment, on a staggered basis, in alphabetically ordered sets. Each set of monographs is available for comment for 90 days. This allows for a staggered comment period, enabling USP to evaluate comments on a rolling basis. While comment periods have passed, USP will accept additional comments that will be considered for future Errata, but will not appear in the initial publication of USP 33-NF 28. The redesign initiative brings consistency to the language used throughout the USP-NF and weaves the text into a new outline and format to help readers more easily find what they're looking for. The new format will be incorporated in USP 33-NF 28 when it publishes in 2009. The presentation of these monographs is intended to allow users to become familiar with the new formats and identify any errors that may have been introduced through the conversion of the monographs to this new style. The comment period is open to the public and registration is free. |
