STANDARDS

USP-FDA Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA)—The three-year agreement with the office of Regulatory Affairs of the Food and Drug Administration covers collaborative testing of USP Reference Standards, modernization of monographs in the USP-NF, and the development of test methods suitable for use in the field to screen drugs for adulteration and contamination. This is an important effort to both FDA and USP since USP's documentary standards are enforceable by FDA, and USP Reference Standards are the premier reference standards used in the development and testing of high-quality pharmaceuticals around the world.
