USP Workshops

Addressing Key Public Health Issues

Reflecting its commitment to advancing worldwide public health through quality standards, the U.S. Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention holds workshops covering key medicine and food ingredient quality issues. From topics much in the public eye (such as adulterated heparin, metal impurities, and milk products adulterated with melamine) to those that are equally important but less publicized (such as assuring the quality of enzymes and inactive ingredients or excipients, in medicines, foods, and dietary supplements), these workshops draw on the expertise of an international roster of distinguished experts.

The USP workshops encourage discussion of a wide range of current scientific findings and regulatory trends. They offer a unique opportunity to network with international experts, and to contribute to the thinking that will go into new and updated USP standards that are relied upon worldwide to help assure public health.

USP workshops are open meetings, with attendees including the pharmaceutical, biotech and food ingredients industries, regulators from the United States and other countries, consumer groups, policy makers, and others. The goal is to foster constructive scientific dialogue that will lead to stronger public standards for medicines and food ingredients used around the world. Seating is limited, so early registration is important.

All Workshops will be held at USP's headquarters facility in Rockville, Maryland. For more information, please contact . To register, click on one of the Scheduled Workshop links below.
