Reservations must be secured by August 29, 2008. After this date, reservations can be made on a space– and rate–available–basis only and may sell out before August 29, 2008 cut–off date. Make your reservations immediately to guarantee availability. Check–in time is 3:00 p.m.; check–out time is noon. Rates are subject to local sales tax and resort fees.

       

To make reservations call the Westin at 816–474–4400 or toll–free at 1–866–716–8137. Please tell the hotel representative you are attending the USP Annual Scientific Meeting. One (1) night's deposit may be required to guarantee a reservation. The deposit will be refunded if the reservation is canceled 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date.

Obtaining and canceling hotel reservations are the responsibility of the meeting registrant.

Parking at the Hotel

The hotel has both self parking facilities and valet service. Indoor valet parking is $17.00 a day, available 24 hours a day, including in/out privileges. Underground Self–parking is $13.50 a day but does not include in/out privileges and is subject to availability.

Hotel Amenities

The hotel offers a full array of concierge services and amenities, including a complimentary 24-hour newly upgraded health club, all season outdoor pool, indoor whirlpool, sauna and steam room, outdoor tennis courts, jogging track and basketball courts, Westin Kids Club, tanning beds, 24–hour business center and room service, High Speed Internet Access in all guest rooms High Speed Wireless Internet Access in public areas. Enjoy the oversized rooms, spacious bathrooms and Westin Heavenly Beds. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are also available and the hotel is ADA compliant.

Hotel Restaurants

The Westin Crown Center has two restaurants. The Brasserie Restaurant and Bar offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Benton's Steak & Chophouse featuring Kansas City's finest steaks, rooftop dinning and live jazz.

Area Airports and Transportation

The Westin Crown Center is 25 minutes miles from the Kansas City International Airport. The hotel does not offer free shuttle service. The Kansas City Airport Super Shuttle runs from the airport to all area hotels. It is $17.00 one way or $29.00 round trip. There is a kiosk setup next to baggage claim where you can obtain a ticket.

Taxicabs, Amtrak, and "The Max"

Taxi service is available 24 hours a day. There is a taxi stand outside each terminal so you do not have to call for a taxi. A taxicab will cost approximately $44.00 one way from Kansas City International Airport and will take about 25 minutes. Union Station is connected to the hotel. If you wish to see the sights in Kansas City there is city transportation called "The Max". "The Max" runs to and from Eastport, the Country Club Plaza and the K.C. Power and Light District. The cost is $1.00 each trip. They run every 15 minutes and can be caught outside of the Crown Center shops.

Meeting Attire

Please dress in business casual attire for the Annual Scientific Meeting. Meeting rooms may be cool so you may wish to bring a light sweater or jacket.

The Westin Crown Center is connected to the Crown Center Shops which has 85 acres of shops, restaurants, and theatres.

Nearby Attractions

The Westin Crown Center is conveniently located near the many attractions that make Kansas City a favorite destination in the heartland. They have adjoining shops, theaters, and restaurants in the Crown Center, Science City at Union Station, nearby museums, performing arts, pro sports, and the famed Country Club Plaza are nearby.

All registrants will receive a detailed Program and briefing materials and a CD ROM on–site at the meeting. The 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting Summary will be available within one month following the meeting at the USP Web site, www.usp.org/goto/asm.
