USP Workshop—Particle Size: Particle Detection and Measurement

Particle size analysis is highly dependent upon the individual particles, the sampling, the technique utilized, and the method of data expression and interpretation. To clarify these variables, participants in the Particle Size Analysis Workshop helped identify data needs for developing and revising USP particle size standards.

Topics:

  • Particle size analysis and the role analysis plays in the characterization of drug products and source materials
  • Particle size technologies used by the pharmaceutical industry, including the advantages and limitations of the technologies
  • Current and emerging issues related to excipients, APIs, parenterals, and biologics
  • Data needs for developing and revising USP particle size standards
  • Future directions for USP's particle characterization efforts

When: December 8–10, 2010

Where: USP Headquarters; Rockville, MD, USA
