CAPSLink

CAPSLink newsletter USP's Center for the Advancement of Patient Safety (CAPS) launched its patient safety CAPSLink™ service in an effort to provide health care providers, reporters to the USP-ISMP Medication Errors Reporting Program, MEDMARX® subscribers, and the larger healthcare community with free, up–to–date information on medication and medical safety. USP no longer publishes this service, but past issues are still available on USP's Web site in the archives below.

CAPSLink provides timely, patient safety-related news, including

  • Data findings from USP's two medication–error reporting programs, MEDMARX and the Medication Errors Reporting (MER) Program
  • Recommendations and suggestions for problem–prone medication error issues
  • Recommendations and suggestions from USP's Safe Medication Use Expert Committee
  • Guidelines and initiatives from organizations such as the National Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Prevention (NCC MERP), Joint Commission, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Institute of Medicine, and FDA
