Q. How often are courses updated?

A. Courses are updated in conjunction with changes and revisions to the USP-NF to reflect new content.

Q. How is material developed for the courses?

A. USP experts, in partnership with training and education experts, work together to produce timely curriculum.

Q. How are instructors chosen?

A. Instructors are chosen by their expertise on specific subjects and their ability to educate. Instructors are chosen both by their expertise on specific subjects as well as their willingness to devote time to collegial education.


Formats

Q. What educational formats are available through USP PE?

A. In–depth Online Courses: Saving travel time and expense, these web-based courses are not more than 2 weeks long and are designed to be flexible, allowing you to participate from your office, lab or home. You may initiate your participation in the readings, assignments and discussion boards as your schedule permits. You won't miss anything, as long as you have a computer with Internet connection. You will gain a thorough knowledge and skill level of critical Chapter information. Each course consists of web casts, self-paced course assignments, discussion boards and on-line evaluations.

Webinars: These interactive, online courses range from 45 to 90 minutes in duration and focus on specific topics related to the effective implementation of standards and best practices of standards. You will need a computer with Internet access.

Workshops: USP's workshops provide an extended forum for in-depth, in person analysis and discussion with industry experts of current or proposed standards affecting pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmacists or other healthcare professionals.

Classroom Instruction: Traditional classroom courses are held periodically at locations around the world providing participants with opportunities for hands-on-learning of key chapter content and procedures while having personal access to USP experts.

Customized Classroom Instruction: Classroom instruction can be tailored to your specific needs for delivery at your company location.

Q. What is asynchronous learning?

A. You learn at your own pace through a series of lectures and assignments and are evaluated at set intervals to manage your progress.

A. USP Pharmacopeial Education accepts Credit Card, Purchase Order or Check for payment. Payments can be made via phone, fax, mail or online.

Technical Issues and Requirements

Q. What are the Hardware and Software requirements for online courses?

A. To ensure an optimal learning experience, these courses are designed with the following hardware and software minimum requirements:

Hardware requirements

  • Intel™ Pentium 200 MHz or higher processor
  • Personal computer with network connection or 56K modem for dialup connection (128 bandwidth to be used during pilot module evaluation)
  • 96 MB RAM
  • 16 bit video card with color monitor or LCD display capable of displaying 16-bit color minimum at 1024 x 768 screen resolution
  • Mouse or other pointing device
  • 16-bit SoundBlaster™ compatible sound card with speakers or headphones (optional for screens with audio)

Software requirements
