Call for Resolutions

The Resolutions Committee has issued a Call for Resolutions to USP Convention member organizations and delegates, asking them to submit proposals for resolutions to be deliberated at the 2010 Convention. Adopted resolutions are considered important guidance for USP. They are considered by USP’s Board of Trustees and Council of Experts in the organization’s policy and operational agendas. For this reason, the Resolutions Committee, with input from USP staff, the Council of Experts, and Board, will assess each proposal carefully for alignment with the Strategic Plan and USP’s standards-setting mission and vision, as well as its impact on organizational resources.

• January 15, 2010 – to be considered for the Preliminary Report of the Resolutions Committee
• March 22, 2010 – FINAL DEADLINE to be considered for inclusion in a supplemental Committee report

Before submitting your resolution, please read the following information.

The Resolutions Committee will develop resolution statements for member consideration from proposals that are aligned with USP’s Strategic Plan, mission and vision. Therefore, as you consider your submission, please evaluate the topic within the context of USP’s overall objectives as defined in the Strategic Plan and potential new directions contemplated in the series of White Papers delivered to the membership in September 2009 by the Council of the Convention.

USP's objectives as stated in the Strategic Plan are as follows:.

1. Expand and enhance USP's core compendial activities – the provision of documentary standards and reference materials;
2. Build and strengthen USP's allied compendial programs – programs that promote development of and access to high quality medicines and foods and build upon USP's core compendial activities;
3. Engage in other programs that leverage USP's unique capabilities to fulfill the public health needs of its constituencies and support USP's vision and objectives
4. Operate both nationally and internationally to help improve the quality, safety, and benefit of medicines and foods worldwide; and
5. Manage all of USP's programs, products and services efficiently and effectively to maximize their impact.
