USP MembersNominating Committee for Officers and TrusteesThe Nominating Committee for Officers and Trustees (Chair) is formed approximately six months before the stated meeting of the membership. (The "stated" meeting occurs once every five years and is called the Convention.) The NC-O&T consists of five members appointed by the President, and of those five members, two must be members of the Board of Trustees. It is the Committee's responsibility to find two suitable candidates for each officer and trustee position – president, treasurer, and eight trustees. The constituencies that are to be represented on the Board are indicated in the Constitution and Bylaws, and the Committee must adhere to those parameters in developing its slate for election by the members. Since 1820, a physician has served as president of the USP, and since the organization was incorporated in 1900, the Chair of the Board has been a pharmacist. The Board of Trustees serves as the fiduciary decision-makers on behalf of the members between meetings.
