Whether you are a veteran delegate or new to the USP family, the white papers are a unique glimpse into how and where USP works to advance its mission. The CoC encourages delegates to read the white papers and share them with colleagues and organizational leaders.

Call for Resolutions for the 2010 Convention — Every five years, USP Convention members have the opportunity to propose resolutions to be considered at the Membership Meeting (the next meeting will be held April 21-24, 2010). Adopted resolutions represent important guidance for USP and are considered in the organization's policy and operational agendas. The Resolutions Committee (RC), with input from USP staff, Council of Experts and Board of Trustees, will assess each proposal carefully for alignment with the Strategic Plan and USP's standards-setting mission and vision, as well as its impact on organizational resources. Proposals received by January 15, 2010 will be considered for the Preliminary Report of the Resolutions Committee, which will be posted online in advance of the 2010 Convention. March 22, 2010 is the final deadline for resolution proposals for consideration by the RC for possible inclusion in a supplemental Committee report.

USP Announces New Honorary Members — USP is pleased to announce the selection of three new Honorary Members to the USP Convention in recognition of their distinguished contributions to USP and to the public health. The following USP volunteers will receive this honor at the Honors Luncheon on April 23, 2010 at the USP Convention's Membership Meeting.

D. Craig Brater, M.D., FACP was the President of the USP Convention and a member of the USP Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2005 and has been serving on the Board as Past President for the last five years. During his presidency, he chaired the 2005 Nominating Committee for the Council of Experts. Prior to being elected president, Dr. Brater was the Convention delegate for the Indiana University School of Medicine (1990-1995) and the American College of Physicians (1995-2000). Dr. Brater is dean (2000 to present) and Walter J. Daly professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Brater is a staunch supporter of USP's globalization efforts and is recognized for his tireless efforts to bring USP quality standards to people worldwide.

Edwin D. Bransome, Jr., M.D. has dedicated more than 30 years to USP. He culminated his service by leading the USP Convention as its President and as a member of the Board of Trustees (1995 to 2000), as Past-President (2000 to 2005), and as a member of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee (1995 and 2005).
