Member Memo

April, 3 2009

Dear USP Convention Delegates and Executive Officers of Member Organizations:

Member Web Page REDESIGNED and Open to the Public – To facilitate access to important member information, we are launching a new Convention Member Web Page. The redesign uses tabs and drop-down boxes to help you navigate quickly to the content you are most interested in. In the USP tradition of transparency, we thought it was time to open this once-private area to all stakeholders; therefore, a User ID and Password are no longer required. The new site has updates on the 2010 Convention membership meeting, governance, an archive of Member Memos, items from the Council of the Convention Communication Campaign, and more. We'd appreciate your feedback on the new design and our move to a more publicly accessible member page. Send comments to .

Your Responsibilities as a Delegate and Member of the USP Convention – As we prepare for the 2010 meeting of the USP Convention, the Membership Committee has provided clear guidance on what is expected of delegates and members of the Convention. Please take time to review this one page summary of your responsibilities. We recommend that you print and refer to the sheet often.

USP Home Page Hot Topics: Proposed Revisions to Metal Impurities Standards – This month's Hot Topics section discusses revising current USP standards for testing metal impurities and setting new limits for these impurities (including, but not limited to, lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium) in drugs and dietary supplements. To become involved in discussions about the proposed revisions, you might wish to consider attending the Metal Impurities Workshop on April 28–29, 2009 at USP Headquarters.

USP Compounding Resources Brochure and Co-Branding Opportunity – A new resource brochure for compounding professionals is now available on the USP Web site. The 4-page brochure outlines a compounder's responsibility under the law as well as questions that practitioners should ask suppliers. It also includes lists of USP monographs for compounded preparations and related General Chapters that are relevant to compounding practitioners. If you would like to make this brochure your own — drop in your logo with USP's and distribute it as an educational piece for your members — contact Member and Professional Relations at .
