USP MembersMembership CommitteeThe Membership Committee is appointed shortly after each stated meeting of the membership and functions throughout the five-year cycle until its successor committee is seated. (The "stated" meeting occurs once every five years and is called the Convention.) Appointed by the President, there are ten members of the Committee representing the various constituencies of USP's membership. Throughout the five-year cycle, the Membership Committee seeks to identify and recommend, for Board of Trustees consideration, organizations that would be appropriate to invite to USP membership. The Committee focuses on organizations that are affected by USP standards and information and that have public health missions that align with USP's. Those organizations that are invited by the Board, join those that have been named in the USP Constitution to form the Convention. As USP advances its mission and broadens its activities, it is important that its membership reflect the constituencies that are impacted by USP's work. The Committee is called upon to understand USP's strategic direction and priorities in order to seek the appropriate breadth of perspectives for the membership. Committee members:
