Nominating Committee for the Council of Experts

As provided by the USP Bylaws, the Nominating Committee for the Council of Experts (NC-CoE) comprises 20 individuals, five of whom are members of the USP Convention. Ten are from the Council of Experts and the remaining five are individuals outside of USP's governing bodies appointed for their particular knowledge of experts qualified to serve on the Council of Experts.

The NC-CoE is formed shortly after the stated meeting of the members and serves throughout the five-year cycle until its successor committee is appointed. (The "stated" meeting occurs once every five years and is called the Convention.) During the five-year cycle, the Committee functions as a vetting body for potential candidates that might be needed to fill vacancies on the Council of Experts or Expert Committees, and it also provides recommendations for qualified candidates to serve on advisory bodies to the Council and its Expert Committees.

In the months just prior to the Convention, following a formal call for candidates, the NC-CoE meets to review the qualification of applicants and to develop the final slate of nominees for the Council of Experts election that will occur at the Convention.
