PQM in Europe/Eurasia

PQM currently works in the Russian Federation in the Europe/Eurasia region. Key PQM accomplishments include:
- USP and PQM trainers conducted customized education courses over two weeks in Moscow (Russian Federation) for 45 scientists in the government's drug control laboratories. PQM also trained specialists from Roszdravnador (Russian Federation's FDA), the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, and two Russian clinics on how to establish a medicine quality monitoring program (MQM) for anti-tuberculosis medicines.
- PQM and in-country partners issued the final report on a multi-center retrospective study conducted in Russia during 2009, assessing the impact of the "Practical Guide on Anti-infection Chemotherapy" and the distance education courses on prescribing patterns of antimicrobial medicines in selected health facilities in Russia. Results support the idea that these education interventions may lead to more rational and appropriate use of antibiotics.
