Laura Viehmyer, SPHR, CEBS, CAE, Vice President, Human Resources

Laura Viehmyer is the vice president of human resources for the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). She serves on the executive management group, developing and directing USP's human resources programs including recruitment & selection, compensation & benefits, training & organizational development, HR policies & procedures, and employee relations. Her scope of responsibilities includes USP's headquarters in Rockville, MD as well as USP's international offices and laboratories.

Ms. Viehmyer brings to USP more than 25 years of management experience in human resources and administration. Before joining USP, she was employed at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) where she held the position of chief human resources officer for six years. Previously, she also served as vice president/director of human resources for various organizations including ICS USA, the American Council of Life Insurance, and the Arnold Palmer Golf Management Company.

Ms. Viehmyer earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and a master of science degree in human resource management from the University of Maryland School of Management and Technology. She has also earned the following designations: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), and Certified Association Executive (CAE). Ms.Viehmyer is an active member of several HR-related organizations and is a frequent guest speaker at professional association meetings in the Washington metropolitan area.
