As the leader of Global Laboratory and Technical Operations, Bruk oversees all aspects of USPs reference standards development and operations, Reference Standards testing Laboratory, Reference Standard Production, and Reference Standards Synthesis Analytical Development Laboratory. In addition, he oversees the USP Verification Program and co-leads USP Materials Program and Publications.
Bruk joined USP in 2012 and has served in various scientific leadership roles, including Senior Vice President of Chemical Medicine. In this role, he oversaw all scientific activities related to the development and maintenance of USP standards for small molecule drugs as well as development and implementation of the operational strategy for documentary standards, including new monograph development and monograph modernization.
Bruk previously served as a Vice President of Global Standards Management and Operations, overseeing the Reference Standard Evaluation and Reference Standard Technical Operations teams. Additionally, he led Portfolio & Project Management activities for documentary and reference standards development across USP’s Science Division and Global Laboratory Operations and the effort to obtain reference material candidates from global pharmaceutical, food, and dietary supplement industries.
Prior to joining USP, Bruk had more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
Bruk contributes to USP’s efforts to build a more diverse and inclusive work environment. He is an active sponsor of USP’s U-BE BOLD affinity group, USP Black Employees Building Organizations of Leadership and Diversity, which supports networking, mentoring and forums that promote cultural awareness and professional development opportunities for all people of African ancestry.
