Kevin Hool

Dr. Kevin Hool is the Vice President of Research and Development for the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP). USP is the official public standards-setting authority for all prescription and over-the-counter medicines, dietary supplements, and other healthcare products manufactured and sold in the United States. Dr. Hool leads the research and development laboratories, which support the creation and maintenance of USP documentary and Reference Standards, providing manufacturers of healthcare, food, and nutritional products with the guidance and means to meet USP’s standards for quality, strength, and purity.

Prior to joining USP in 2009, Dr. Hool worked at The Dow Chemical Company for 22 years, most recently as the Director of Technologies–Analytical Sciences. He is a current member and past chair of the Directors of Industrial Research Analytical Group (DIRAG), an assembly of 45 companies that span the petroleum, chemicals, and life sciences industries. He serves on the advisory board for the Product Quality Research Institute (PQRI) and is also a board member of the Association of Laboratory Managers (ALMA).

In 1982, Dr. Hool received his B.S. degree in chemistry at Edinboro State University (Pennsylvania) and in 1985 and 1987 his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in analytical chemistry at the University of Illinois (Urbana/Champaign).
