Erratum to Mannitol Injection Monograph

July 2, 2008

This erratum corrects the Labeling statement published in USP31-NF26. A revision to the Labeling statement was originally intended to become official on January 1, 2006. This official date of this revision was subsequently postponed to August 1, 2007 via an Interim Revision Announcement published in Pharmacopeial Forum 32(2) [Mar-April 2006]. The correct Labeling statement is:

"The label states the total osmolar concentration in mOsmol/ L. Where the contents are less than 100 mL, or where the label states that the Injection is not for direct injection but is to be diluted before use, the label alternatively may state the total osmolar concentration in mOsmol/m. The label also states that it should be warmed before use to dissolve any crystals that may have formed."

This Labeling statement was published in USP30-NF25, however, the underlined portion of the statement was inadvertently omitted from hard copy and electronic versions of USP31-NF26. The erratum to be published in Pharmacopeial Forum 34(4) [July-Aug 2008] presents the correct labeling statement as stated above. Download the correct Mannitol Injection monograph  (77KB).

We apologize for this error and provide here a corrected PDF of Mannitol Injection. The correct Labeling statement will be included in the USP32-NF27. Please contact Dr. Sujatha Ramakrishna () if there are any questions.
