USP–NF General Notices

The General Notices and Requirements section of the United States Pharmacopeia and the National Formulary (USP-NF) were recently revised in USP 32-NF 27. In the past several years since those revisions were originally undertaken, a number of new issues have been identified, as well as renewed interest in addressing previously considered issues. The attached proposal outlines issues for consideration in the next round of changes to General Notices and Requirements.

This document is being posted on USP’s Web site for informal comments from interested stakeholders. The deadline for submitting informal comments is August 31, 2009. Submit your comments to .

Once informal comments are received, the revised General Notices and Requirements will be proposed in Pharmacopeial Forum 36(1) January-February 2010, with USP 34-NF 29 (published in November 2010, and official May 2011) as the targeted official publication.
